I have just GOT to address this for a moment. It’s going to be alot of TMI and information about cis-lady vaginas and their smells, etc.
Ok…I’ve had a few friends (heterosexual, cis-guys, mostly, but also some cis-ladies) ask me questions like, “Why does pussy smell so weird/bad/whatever?” “How can I make my vagina smell less, vagina-y?” “Does you’re vag ever smell weird or bad?”
So, first off I want to say that if you really are worried about anything in your nether regions, you should stop by a Planned Parenthood or make an appointment to see your OBGYN. They are professionals trained to deal with this kind of thing and are the best source for info on your bits and pieces.
Now that that is out of the way I have to just say, it surprises me that, in this day and age, cis-women are still under the impression that if their vaginas smell like anything other than rainbows and roses, that there must be something horribly wrong with their downtown bonanza. Not always the case. All pussies are different. Not a single one is exactly like the other in shape or scent. And guess what…not a single shape or scent is bad! It’s all totally normal and good!
Smells can vary from person to person. Depending on things like body hair, hygiene, perspiration, diet, bodily functions, and hormones, your pussy will smell like…well..a pussy. Like I said, no two smell exactly alike and your smell is uniquely your own. Again, it’s totally normal.
To quote Eve Ensler, “My vagina doesn’t need to be cleaned up. It smells good already. Don’t try to decorate. Don’t believe him when he tells you it smells like rose petals when it’s supposed to smell like pussy. That’s what they’re doing — trying to clean it up, make it smell like bathroom spray or a garden. All those douche sprays — floral, berry, rain. I don’t want my pussy to smell like rain…. So…whatever your own natural smell is, that’s what your pussy should smell like. If you and your partner are not comfortable with your own personal smell, then of course, there are douches and body washes made specifically with your va-jay-jay in mind. Also you can try showering right before being intimate with your partner. But please, please, please rest assured that you’re vagina smells exactly the way it’s supposed to.
